Bayan Basketball Club Hosts 26th NABA Tournament


The  26th Annual Inter-City NABA’s Basketball Tournament opened at the Ray Twinney Recreational Complex in Newmarket, Ontario, and played some other Catholic and High School Gyms around the York Region, specifically in Newmarket, Aurora, King City, and Richmond Hill.
The 3-day event commenced Friday, August 30th, 2013 with it's Opening Ceremonies beauty pageant of the muses. 
Actual basketball game competitions started Saturday, August  31st, 2013 through Sunday, September 1st, 2013. 
The tournament is one of the biggest basketball tournaments for Filipinos of Filipino descent in North America. There were about  22 cities participating  from the  United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe. 
 About 155 basketball teams have confirmed their participation.
The basketball divisions, include: Tykes, Peewee, Bantam, Damsel, Girls, Ladies, Junior, Juvenile, Open, Senior and Masters.
The host club, Bayan Basketball Club is did a great job of inviting all basketball afficionados in Canada to come watch and enjoy the games and at the same time welcome visiting teams of all ages and nationalities in the different locations in Newmarket, Ontario. Bayan Basketball Club.
It is a time when the border is known for Filipino migration to Ontario.
Jill Sto-Domingo was asked by a Canada border officer, "is it that time again when Filipinos come to Canada?"
She said yes and added, "there's 7 more vehicles behind me that are going to the same tournament."
After she was waved her through, the other vehicles were just waved through without being asked.
In addition to basketball games,  Volleyball games were also be conducted in the sports tournament.
